Remember your sub-domains

Remember you sub-domains because they rock. As a matter of fact, the search engines take care of them as separate entities that share the authority of your top-level domain. Therefore, you might use a URL that follows: productname.yourcompanyname.com, if you have a page about a particular product. However, be cautious about it and make sure you don’t over do it.

If have more than there sub-domains, Google may not consider them when ranking for the name of your company. On the other hand, unnecessary sub-domains might as well be reported as spam to the search engine, causing a manual review, which can result in being penalized in the rankings. It is a rule of thumb that you must make sure that all the content on your sub-domains are not duplicates of content you have published elsewhere, can stand alone legitimately and that it serves a purpose.
